The little boy who saved his friend’s life

While having lunch, Mohammad Ajaz Fadi suddenly became breathless. All the people around him were terrified when they saw his face.

While others didn’t understand what had happened, his close friend Mohammad Sahal Shahzad did. Realizing that his best friend was suffering from food stuck in his throat, he recalled the lessons of the training given by the NDRF team in the school two days ago.

Ajaz shrugged and walked out. That shot saved his life. Mohammad Sahal Shahzad, an SPC cadet at Durga Higher Secondary School in Kanhangad, is a hero in the country today. He is surrounded by friends, teachers, locals, police and NDRF teams.

On Monday, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel conducted a class for SPC cadets on how to save lives in emergency situations. Ajaz and Sahil, both students of Class IX, participated in this training class.

As part of this, training was given on how to save babies if breast milk gets stuck in the throat. The NDRF team also taught the children to try to bring out the food stuck in the throat by patting on the back in case the food gets stuck in the throat and life is in danger. The incident took place two days later at the school.

“He’s my best friend. We went to eat together. As he ate, he suddenly had trouble breathing. I immediately helped him with the way he taught in class. After he finished, he gasped for breath. I felt very happy, “he said.

Sahal Shahzad is the son of Balla Kadappuram native Abdul Basheer and A Arifa.
