Youngest Award-Winning Farmer: Adhidev’s Green Success

Meet Adhidev: The Youngest Award-Winning Farmer Leading the Green Revolution in Karuvatta

In a world where most 4th-graders are preoccupied with video games and cartoons, Adhidev Nidhin is busy tending to his flourishing vegetable garden. His dedication to the soil has earned him the prestigious “Best Child Farmer” award from the Karuvatta Krishi Bhavan this year.

A Journey Rooted in Passion

Adhidev, a student at Kumara Puram Govt. LP School, lives in Karuvatta North with his parents, Nidhin and Arya Mol. For the last three years, he has transformed his home surroundings into a vibrant edible landscape.

His garden boasts a variety of organic produce, including:

  • Tomatoes and Okra
  • Brinjal (Eggplant)
  • Long Beans and Ivy Gourd (Kovakka)

Because of Adhidev’s hard work, his family rarely needs to buy vegetables from the market. This self-sufficiency is a hallmark of sustainable home gardening practices, which reduce carbon footprints and ensure pesticide-free food.

Expanding Horizons: Beyond Vegetables

Adhidev isn’t stopping at seasonal vegetables. He is currently working on developing a fruit orchard on his property. Perhaps most impressively, he is planning a mini-aquaponics unit in front of his house. This integrated system will combine fish farming with vegetable cultivation—a high-tech approach to traditional farming.

Success is a Family Affair

While Adhidev is the face of this achievement, he isn’t alone. He receives constant support and encouragement from his younger brother, Abhinath K. Nidhin, and his grandfather, Karthikeyan.

Adhidev’s story proves that age is just a number when it comes to environmental stewardship. His transition from a student to a recognized leader in youth agriculture serves as a blueprint for schools and communities across Kerala.
